The Q&A Archives: Trimming Bridal Veil

Question: I have a flowering bush which I have been told is Bridal Veil. It is out of control. I would like to keep it but I need to trim it. What would be the recommended method for doing this? I think I would like to cut it as low as possible without killing it. What height would you recommend? Sandy Clayton Paoli, PA

Answer: Bridal veil is a type of Spirea. These are beautiful, cacading white flowerd shrubs that are great as hedges and foundations plantings. One of the nice things about bridalveil spirea is that you can cut it down to the ground in spring and it will come back and grow fine. So, if you want to be sever with this spirea, go ahead to cut it down.
