We planted "Miss Willmott" Potentillas this spring and none of them bloomed. The plants look very healthy and have doubled to tripled in size. We had a very hot summer and watered about every other day, in the evenings. We did put some fertilizer down in late spring/early summer. We just wanted to know if they didn't bloom because they are young or if there is something else that we need to do? |
Potentilla "Miss WiIlmott" should bloom lightly off and on all summer with the heaviest flush in late spring/early summer. In my experience it does best in only a moderately rich soil and will run to foliage if the soil is overly rich; it also prefers a well drained soil with plenty of sun -- in other words it tends to do well in the average sunny flower bed. In all probability it spent this summer settling in and will perform beautifully next summer. This is especially likely if they were very small plants to begin with. |
