| My neighbors have a 3 yr old fig Kadota tree and this year the leaves are dropping and hasn't produced any fruit as in previous years except for some small dried up ones. Their watering practice as in other years is to turn the hose on at the trunk and leave it on to spread outward. Is this proper and can this be causing their problem? |
| Fig trees grow best in full sunshine and need no water once established. From your description, I'd say your neighbor is overwatering! Figs are not particular about soil, and benefit from reflected heat. They require no fertilizer (which would encourage rank growth and little fruit), and get by with just natural rainfall. |
