I bought a geranium in a very large pot that was very full and had large leaves. It flowered very nicely this summer, but lost all it large leaves and fullness. It was watered and fertilized regularly. What's wrong?

Thee are several possible explanations for why this could happen. One is that the plant needed more light and "stretched" to get it. Another is that it needed to be pinched periodically to encourage branching and bushiness while it gained height. A third is that some varieties are simplynaturally a bit leggier or more upright than others. If you keep the plant over the winter, be sure to cut it back quite hard next spring and then periodically pinch out the growing tips to keep it bushy and thick.
