| Its color will be an overall rich, deep red and the fruit will come off easily from the plant. It will be firm, but not overly soft. Use long-handled tongs to grasp it to avoid spines. If the fruit is extremely soft, or wrinkled, it's probably over-ripe. Good luck! |
