| My ash tree has lost a strip of its bark. I do not see any critters on the tree. Could our drought of this summer have traumitized it to lose its bark. It has lost a strip of about 3-4 inches by 35 inches. It also looks like another strip above it is loose and may want to fall. Do I get some bark wrap; fertilize it; treat it with ? Please help; it is a lovely tree, probably 20 years old or less. |
| There is very little you can do to repair a lost strip of bark. The best thing you can do is to help the tree stay healthy so it can try to heal itself. This would mean watering it in times of drought and possibly fertilizing it with a balanced fertilizer in late fall after the leaves have come down. I can't think off hand of a typical reason for this to happen to an ash. You might want to consult with your County Extension (424-9485) or a professional arborist to see if there is some underlying cause. Good luck with your tree! |
