The Q&A Archives: F1 Hybrid Definition

Question: Please give me a definition of F1, which refers to a hybrid seed or plant, right?

Answer: Hybrids come from two unlike parent flowers which are bred to incorporate the best characteristics of each parent. A true F-1 hybrid is the first generation of the crossing of these two unrelated parents. The resultant offspring will exhibit an even distribution of dominant traits from both parents.

F2 hybrids are the result of the inbreeding of F1's.
