The Q&A Archives: Source for "Tree Tomato" Plants

Question: Several years ago, a friend had several "Tree Tomato" plants which were taller and sturdier than even the bush varieties. Are these still available? If so, what is the variety, and from whom can I obtain them? Thanks. George Bynum Greenville, SC

Answer: I'm not sure what you mean by tree tomatoes. If you mean an indeterminate tomato plant that can grow very tall, then there are many varieties to choose from such as 'Delicious'. However, if you mean the actual tree tomato(tamarillo), which isn't really a tomato, but a tropical tree that produces tomato-looking fruit, somewhat similar in taste to tomatoes, then they are available through, The Banana Tree 715 Hampton St. Easton, PA 18042 610-253-9589
