| Maple trees can be started from seed but they need a pre-germination treatment before they will sprout. Soak the seeds overnight, then place them in a plastic bag along with some moistened potting soil. Keep them warm for two months (room temperature is okay), then place the bag in the refrigerator for two month. Remove the seeds and plant them on the surface of moistened seed starting mix and press them in. The seeds need light to germinate so don't cover with additional soil. Place the pots or trays in a warm area. Seedlings should sprout in 30-365 days when kept at 65F -75F degrees. Good luck with your new maple trees! |
