| Layering a bulb planting can allow you to plant lots of bulbs in a smaller space but it takes some thought to make it work well visually with the bulbs you have on hand. Some bulbs such as daffodils and tulips need to be planted quite deep. Others, such as crocus, can be planted just a few inches down. By planting at the required depth you can plant in layers. The trick is to do it in such a way that you can see all the bulbs when they bloom -- this is where your selection is important. Since there are early and late bloomers of most types of bulbs, experiment a bit and see how it works for you! |
