| What seeds do you recommend that I plnat in Fall (now) for winter & spring bloom? My yard is part-shade and full shade, and I have an active deer population. |
| A hungry deer will eat almost anything, however some of the plants they usually avoid include Acanthus, Achillea (Yarrow), Amaryllis belladonna, Columbine, Thrift, Aster, Astilbe, Begonia, Centaurea, Coreopsis, Euphorbia, Lupine, Freesia, Geranium, Iris, Saxifrage and Godetia. In your mild winter climate you can sow seeds of most annuals now for early spring bloom. Part to full shade favorites are lobelia, impatiens, viola, Forget-Me-Not, and cineraria. These plants shouldn't be too attractive to deer, either. |
