The Q&A Archives: Some Blue Flowering Vines to Cover a Wall

Question: I'm looking for a vine that has blue flowers that will tolerate some shade to cover a cement wall. Would blue morningglories work? Are they hard to start from seed? Any other suggestons? Bill Knestis Polson, MT

Answer: Morninglories should do fine as a cascading blue flower. Another nice plant is called 'Purple Wave' petunia. It grows low to the ground, spreads out over a 2-3 foot area per plant and flowers all summer long. You can also look for ageratum, blue lobelia and browallia as other possibilities.
