The Q&A Archives: Magnolia And Winter

Question: How do I prepare my Magnolia for winter? It is grown for central Maine.

Answer: There are so many magnolias that without knowing which you have, it's difficult to make a recommendation. For instance, Magnolia acuminata is hardy from zones 3-8. Magnolia grandiflora is only hardy in zones 7-9. If you purchased your tree locally, it's probably hardy in your area and you need to do nothing to prepare it for winter.
