| The easiest way to do this is to take tip cuttings anywhere from about three to six inches long with at least two sets of leaves and root them in barely moist medium. Any clean "soilless" potting mix is fine for this. Use a clean pot and keep them in a bright location. Remove the lowest set of leaves and insert the stem into the soil so that the now bare spot is well buried. Roots will form where the leaves were removed. Keep slightly moist and wait for roots to appear. If you wish to make a humidity box by placing a clear plastic cover of some sort over top that will reduce the need to water the cuttings. Bottom heat will also help them root faster. Be sure however, to place them in a bright spot but away from direct sun -- direct sun will bake them inside the cover. Have funwith your project! |
