The Q&A Archives: Hatching Praying Mantis Eggs

Question: I would like to hatch praying mantis egg cases over several weeks (one every other week). What is the best way to delay hatching after I receive the cases? Chris Amrhein Riverside, CA

Answer: I'm not an entomologist, but I'd guess that by placing the egg cases in a cool place such as the refrigerator, you could delay the hatching. Optimum temperatures for hatching are between 70F and 90F. I'd contact the following company that sells praying mantis egg cases just to be sure, Arbico P.O.
