We have two bougainvillea plants in pots on our patio. Last year we moved them inside the house during the winter. Is it even a possibility to winterize them outside?

Bougainvilleas are not cold hardy enough to make it through a winter, even with heavy mulch to protect them. Your only options are to move them into a greenhouse or very sunny indoor location, or cut them back severely after cool temperatures shut down the plant, and then store them over winter in a location cool enough to prevent vigorous regrowth, but not below freezing.

Hope this helps!
