I want to split my day lilies - they are getting very big. I want to know if it is too late in the season to do that now - should I wait until spring? Or is there still time to do this.

I am in Western New York - we had our first frost about 1 week ago. (only 1 night of frost) It is Oct 16. When should I do this? Now or spring?

It would be much better to wait until spring since you have a choice because the new divisions will probably heave with the freeze thaw cycles. The ideal time to divide these is late summer so that they will have months to establish themselves before the cold weather hits. Spring is also a good time to divide them.
