The Q&A Archives: Distance Between Vegetables

Question: How far apart do I plant?: corn, carrots, peas, potatoes, tomato? Gwen age 9 Naperville, IL

Answer: Make sure to arrange your garden so all plants get plenty of sun. Plan the tallest for the back (northside) and plan for the crops than will mature earliest. For spacing: carrots-4" apart potatoes-10-15" apart tomatoes-18-24" for staked plants, 36-48" for plants not trained peas-2' apart corn-6-8" apart (Plan on 3 or 4 rows 15-20' long to allow for pollinization) Have fun
