How can you tell what type of Hibiscus you have? I don't have the tag that came with it when it was purchased. I need to know if mine is the type that can be planted outdoors and kept out for the winter. It blooms red flowers that only last about a day. |
I can't tell by flower color, but we can probably figure it out based upon leaf shape. Tropical hibiscus (the kind that you need to take indoors during the winter months), has heart-shaped dark green glossy leaves with serrated edges. The hardy perennial hibiscus has broad, oval leaves that are deeply lobed. Hope this helps you determine which plant you're growing and whether or not you need to take it indoors over the winter months! |
