Can I plant a burning bush from berries? The berries are soft. Do I need to let them dry out? If it can be planted, how do I go about this? |
Burning bush is a common name applied to a couple different species, but I'll assume you are referring to Euonymus. If not, send another email to www.burpee.com. Yes, they can be started from seed harvested from the ripe berries. Sow fresh in autumn and they should germinate next spring. To collect seeds, tie a paper bag over the ripe berries before they split open. Remove the fleshy seed coats before sowing. They generally need a period of chilling before germination, but as long as they are sown outside, that should be sufficient. Good luck! |
