Tulips are best planted in a sunny location in soil that is well drained (meaning not soggy) with about six inches of soil ABOVE the bulbs. Plant them pointy end up. Water and cover with a few inches of organic mulch.

Grecian windflowers (Anemone blanda) are planted in a lightly shaded area about five inches down. It can be hard to tell which end goes up so don't worry about it -- plant it sideways. Prior to planting, the anemones should be rehydrated a bit. One way to do this is to wrap them in damp peat moss or damp paper towels overnight (loosely wrapped in plastic) so they can absorb the water and plump up. Then plant them right away the next day. Again, water and cover with a few inches of organic mulch.
