I have Rose of Sharon bushes that are about 20 ft high. I want to prune them. Is it OK if I bring them down to about 5'? Will I get flowers next year? Want to prune this weekend.

Those are huge! You can bring them down short either by cutting them at the base or at any height you wish. The best time to do this is late winter or early spring. They bloom on new wood, so do not prune any later in the growing season than that or you will be cutting off blooming wood for later in the summer.
