The Q&A Archives: Starting Sweet Peas

Question: I am going to plant Burpee's Galaxy Mixed Sweet Peas this year for the first time. The package says they can be started indoors 6-8 weeks before outdoor planting time. The gardening guide I received with my order says they must be sown directly outdoors. Which is correct? I would opt for starting them indoors due to our short growing season. Bob Tingley Atkinson, NH

Answer: Start your Sweet Peas about 6 weeks before outdoor planting time. The outdoor directions are for people who live in warmer climates with longer growing seasons! Enjoy!
