The Q&A Archives: Shooting Star Wildflower

Question: I am looking for the plants or seeds for a wildflower called "Shooting Star". I used to see it in San Diego County 45-years ago. Can you help?

Answer: The plant you're looking for is Dodecatheon hendersonii. A member of the Primulaceae family, it's sometimes called Shooting Star. It's native to the west, and seeds are difficult to come by, except through nurseries specializing in native plants.
