My crepe myrtles have pretty much stopped blooming. What happens to them in the winter months in zone 9? What do I have to do to protect them?

Crape myrtles are hardy in your area, although some dieback may occur. Rake up any leaf litter so there's less chance of insects overwintering. Then apply a mulch layer around the root area. Prune if needed during the plant's dormancy at the end of winter just before new growth starts.
