I recently had seen a short TV segment in a homeshow that showed how to grow potatoes in a tall wire fence cylinder, packing it around with straw and adding soil as the plant grows up. When it is time to harvest the potatoes the cylinder will be completely full and will eliminate the need to dig them out of the ground. I would like to know where to find the printed instructions to do this style of potato gardening as I did not get the chance to tape the show and need the complete plans and soil formula to try this. Hope you can help....

To be honest I am not aware of any specific printed instructions for soil recipes for doing what you have described -- the way you described it is pretty much how it is done. Some gardeners will use chopped leaves and/or straw instead of soil, others will use a mixture. Use whatever you have at hand because the main point is to keep covering the potatoes periodically. Have fun!
