The Q&A Archives: Cutting Back Schefflera

Question: I have a Schefflera planted in my flower bed and it is in need of pruning. The plant stands about 8 feet tall. I need to know when prune this plant.

Answer: An established Schefflera such as yours can actually be cut almost to the ground and it will respond by developing new stems and foliage. Prune your plant in the early spring. To keep it from getting leggy or too large, regularly pinch out the growing tips during the spring and summer months.
