Can you please tell me, am I over-watering or under watering my ficus? It is dropping leaves at an alarming rate. They are not turning yellow first. It was very bushy one week ago and now is looking quite sparse. The leaves one week ago were a deep green and shiny but now they look dull. Help!!!

If leaves are suddenly dropping from Ficus benjamina, the cause is almost always insufficient water. Try to keep the potting soil evenly moist. Begin by soaking the pot to moisten all of the soil (and remove air pockets), then watering as soon as the top of the soil begins to dry out. Be patient and your formerly healthy plant will regain its health and produce new foliage.
