I have a pump for a fountain, I would like to know the basics in building my own. |
Building you own is fun and not too difficult. You will need a pump, plastic tubing to fit the outlet on the pump, a basin to hold water deep enough to cover the pump (this container can be anything from a decorative bowl to a plain old bucket depending on your taste), and an electrical outlet with a ground fault interrupter (GFI) for safety. Basically, the pump recirculates the water from the basin and spits it out the end of the tube. The water then trickles back into the basin and the cycle starts again. You can arrange the tube over or through any type of decorative set-up you like (for exmple hide the tubing in a little pile of rocks so the water spills over the top of the rocks and looks nice), but make sure the water coming out of the tube returns to the basin. Play with the height and width of the "fall" and the arrangement of items for the water to run over or hit until you like the look and the sound of your fountain. Replenish the water (some is lost to evaporation) as needed so the pump is always submerged. Have fun! |
