I recently purchased a Coxcomb plant.(Not sure if the spelling is correct) I know nothing about it. Could you please tell me the proper planting and care instructions to maintain this plant. Someone told that this plant should come up every year with little or no effort, is that correct?

I think you are referring to a cockscomb plant which would be a form of celosia. These are grown as annuals meaning they must be replanted from seed each year. They are easy to grow, needing only full sun and average soil. They also like hot weather, so don't plant the seed or set out started plants until the soil has warmed in the spring. If your plant has already bloomed and if the seeds have time to mature on the plant before the weather turns really cold you may find that it will self sow for you. This means that it will set seed and replant itself in the same spot from year to year if conditions are right -- or "come back" without being replanted by the gardener.
