The Q&A Archives: Caring For Rhodos

Question: How do I save an overgrown Rhododendron?

Answer: An overly large rhododendron can be trimmed back quite severely in the spring and the resultant new growth tipped as needed to encourage branching from then on. The extensive root system will enable the shrub to regrow fairly quickly although it will look odd for at least a season or two.
