I have just planted 20 of your raspberry plants. I am wondering if I need to protect them somehow from deer or rabbits or other pests? We do not live near these plants during the winter months. Please advise. |
In my experience the critters do not bother raspberry canes in the winter, but you might want to check with your neighbors and see if the deer have been a problem. Unfortunately, deer tend to have localized tastes and I would not rule it out. In any case, I would mulch them with a thick layer of organic mulch such as shredded bark and cut them back to about three feet (if not already done) for the first winter. |
