The Q&A Archives: Areca Palms

Question: What are the pros and cons for planting a 1000 foot plus straight row (line) of areca palms aproximately 15 feet from the rear of homes in a Senior home development in south Florida

Answer: Areca lutescens are clumping feather palms, graceful looking, with smooth trunks and a slow growth habit to 10'-15'. They grow best in full sun near the coast or with partial afternoon shade in hotter areas. Once established, Areca's are attractive, easy care trees.
