Can you tell me the best time to transplant a hydrangea bush it is now being overgrown by another one? |
In general, the best times for transplanting are very early spring and early fall. Be sure to water the plant well the day before you move it and take as much of the rootball as possible. Replant immediately, water it in well, and mulch with several inches of organic mulch such as shredded bark. Trim back the top accordingly if a lot of root was left behind. Make sure the plant receives adequate water for the following year just as a newly planted one would. Good luck with the transplanting! |
