Camellias like well-drained soil with plenty of organic matter. Most Camellias do best in partial shade, especially protection from afternoon sun, although some varieties can tolerate full sun. They require regular watering when they're young, but once established (3-4 years), they can get along with only occasional watering during the hottest summer months. Fertilize with azalea/camellia type fertilizer immediately after they bloom. Good luck with your plant!
