My neighbor says not to grow carpet grass for a lawn. I have a real good stand of it and do not want to start over. So why no carpet grass, it looks great.

Carpet Grass looks similar to St. Augustine but is softer, shorter and denser with many fine roots. It will brown out if there's a freeze, but otherwise will remain green all year around. Carpet grass is considered a weed by many, because of its vigorous nature; once it starts, it chokes out everthing in its path. As long as you keep it mowed short, it shouldn't present any particular problems.
