My neighbor says not to grow carpet grass for a lawn. I have a real good stand of it and do not want to start over. So why no carpet grass, it looks great. |
Carpet Grass looks similar to St. Augustine but is softer, shorter and denser with many fine roots. It will brown out if there's a freeze, but otherwise will remain green all year around. Carpet grass is considered a weed by many, because of its vigorous nature; once it starts, it chokes out everthing in its path. As long as you keep it mowed short, it shouldn't present any particular problems. |
