I would like to know when it is good to buy and plant a navel orange tree. What fertilizer should be used?

You can plant citrus most any time of the year in your neck of the woods. Citrus trees have shallow feeder roots so they require moist but well-draining soils. It's usually not necessary to fertilize young, vigorous trees, but mature citrus can be fed a high-nitrogen fertilizer; one-pound of actual nitrogen divided into thirds and applied in June, August and January.
