Answer: Loropetalum is an evergeen shrub that reaches 6-12' tall, roundish, light green leaves that turns yellow and red in fall, and white flowers in March-April. It likes well-drained soil that's high in fertility. One variety' Razzleberry' has purplish-red leaves and rosy pink flowers. Loropetalum are hardy to zone 8, so are risky in your Virginia climate.
