The most popular Lilium species for growing indoors is the Easter Lily, but there are many, many others that will thrive indoors. To force your lily, plant the bulb in a 6" pot and cover the tip with 1 1/2 to 2 inches of potting soil. Water well, then keep in a cold, dark place until shoots appear. Bring the plant into bright light and keep the soil moist at all times. Your plant will grow from 2'-4' tall and produce fragrant flowers. Reduce watering as the leaves turn yellow and the stems die down. To have a repeat performance, repot in fresh soil, keep in a cool, dark location, and return to a bright spot when new shoots appear.
