The Q&A Archives: Germinating Fuchsia Seed

Question: What are the ideal starting conditions for fuchsia seeds? I have some seeds purchased from Burpee and followed the directions on the seed planting guide, and after 3 weeks, nothing has sprouted...what did I do wrong? Marlaine Ege LaCrosse, WI

Answer: Sow fuchsia seed on the surface of the soil and press down. (the seed needs light to germinate). Water from below until the surface of the media has changed color (is wet). Drain and cover with plastic wrap. Put under lights. Germination should occur in 7-21 days. If you did all this and nothing has happened then call Burpee's customer service number (1-800-333-5808) and they will refund your money or send you another packet of seed.
