My lawn has areas of grass that look like white wash was spilled on it. Our fall has been very mild and dry. What is the cause? Perhaps too much fertilizer without rain? |
It's doubtful that too much fertilizer would bleach the green color out of your lawn - it would more likely burn it, turning it brown. There is a turfgrass disease called pythium blight with symptoms very much like you describe. Another disease that causes white looking grass is typhula, but this disease produces defined circles or spots up to 2' in diameter. Rather than guess, why not take a sample of the problem to your local Extension office? Helpful folks there can positively diagnose the problem and provide a solution or two. (Phone 507/285-8250) |
