Plants need many, many different nutrients to grow. The main ones are called macronutrients and they are nitrogen, phosphorous, potassium, magnesium, calcium, and sulfur. The the three big ones are nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium - the ones you see on a bag of fertilizer, as in 5-10-10. There are also several micronutrient necessary for plant growth such as iron, zinc, boron, copper, manganese, molybdenum, chlorine, and cobalt. |
