I'm going to grow spinach in peat pots using potting soil that has fertilizer in it. I'll start them in Rialto,CA then transplant them to a site in Fontana,CA. todays date is 11/23/1999. Should the seeds be started indoors or outdoors?

Spinach grows best in cool weather with optimal soil temperatures of 45F-70F. I'd sow the seeds in the pots and leave them outdoors, as long as the temperature stays above 45F. You'll save yourself an extra step by starting them out rather than in - the seedlings won't require an acclimation period from warm indoors to cool outdoor temperatures when you transplant them into the garden.
