There are many species in the genus Podocarpus. The common name would depend upon which species you had. For example, Podocarpus gracilior is commonly called fern pine; P. macrophyllusis is yew pine, etc. Most podocarpus are evergreen shrubs or trees that grow easily in regular garden soil. They are slow growers that do best with regular water. Most can take sun or partial shade. They can experience iron chlorosis problems if they are in wet, cold clay soil. The nursery you bought the plant from should be able to give you more specifics on its care, at the very least, they should provide the complete Latin name. Good luck!
