The Q&A Archives: Propagating Trumpet Vine from a Runner

Question: My neighbor has a really pretty trumpet vine. She found a runner that has come up and she told me I could have it. How would I get it up without killing it? Laurie Ann Davis Spring Lake, UT

Answer: Runners usually have set roots somewhere. Carefully dig up the runner and follow it back to the "mother" plant until you see roots and then sever it just behind them. Plant it in a sunny spot and water well! Enjoy!
