| I would like some info on caring for a Sago and Roebellennii Palm I acquired from Florida.The Roebellenii is approx. 2ft.tall and 2 ft.wide and currently in a 10 inch pot. The Sago is a 7" premium foliage in a small pot . I have no clue as to how to care for these plants(repotting, fertilizing, water, or sun). Please help, I would hate to harm these beautiful plants. |
| Palms adapt reasonably well to growing indoors. They require average household temperatures during the day(minimum 50F in winter)with a slightly lower temperature at night. All palms detest stagnant water so make sure that the soil drains well and water doesn't puddle in the saucer or at the base of the container. If the room is heated, mist the plants occasionally. Keep your palms out of drafts, and give them bright light (some morning sunshine can be beneficial). During the spring and summer months water often enough to keep the soil moist but not soggy wet. You can water less frequently in winter, allowing the top of the soil to barely dry out between waterings. Palms can be fertilized in the spring when new growth begins. I use a half-strength liquid fertilizer once a month during the spring and summer months in place of a watering. Palms do not like to be disturbed so repot only when the plant is completely potbound. Following the above guidelines should result in happy, healthy palms. |
