The Q&A Archives: Source for Pepetual' (Large-Leaf) Spinach

Question: A friend shared her homegrown spinach with me several years ago, and the leaves were just huge-only a couple were needed for a meal. If memory serves me right, they were comparable to the size of large swiss chard leaves! I was wondering if you had any idea what varieties grown to yield such large leaves? Thyme Eugene, OR

Answer: There is a spinach called "Perpetual spinach", that actually grows like a swiss chard, with large leaves, but has a spinachy taste. Perhaps this is the plant you ate. The seed are available through, The Cooks Garden P.O. Box 535 Londonderry, VT 05148 800-457-9703
