I am assuming here you are talking about a named variety of the hardy Crossvine (Bignonia capreolata, also known as Anisostichus capreolata). This plant should be pruned immediately after it flowers in early spring. Keep in mind however that its normal size is rather large. According to Michael Dirr's "Manual of Woody Landscape Plants" it can climb to thirty or even fifty feet depending on the size of the structure supporting it.
