| My pansies that have been doing VERY well for the past month and a half through the mild fall weather completely stopped blooming recently. the foliage still looks very healthy. What could I have done wrong and is it still possible to make them bloom again? |
| There are several possible reasons for why they would stop blooming, they often occur in combination. One could be that they need to be deadheaded regularly to prevent them from setting seed which in turn causes them to stop blooming; another is that they may need to be fertilized -- this is often the case if they are grown in pots and the nutrients and fertilizer in the original potting soil has been depleted; another possible reason is that the weather has turned too cool and cloudy and the variety you are growing is less tolerant of cold weather than others. In many cases fall pansies slow down for the shortest days of the year and then as the weather warms start up again in the spring so it might not be due to anything you did or didn't do! |
