Any info about an osage tree, softball size lime green friut or veg? |
Osage orange (Maclura pomifera), also called hedge-apple, is a native tree (Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas) growing about 30 feet tall and wide or possibly larger with a sort of rounded shape. It is very resiliant and will grow under many types of conditions in zones 4 through 9. The "orange" is technically called a drupe and will dent cars when it drops, the tree is a bit coarse in outline and texture, and it does have thorns. It was historically used for good fence posts because is wood is naturally rot resistant. Finally, it is somewhat difficult to find for sale. |
